“Slipstream is one of the tightest, most listenable bands to hit Colorado in a long, long time.” Slipstream's sound combines the haunting power of bluegrass and old-time music with what Darol Anger calls a “surf groove.” Slipstream has brought their rocky mountain style of bluegrass to such prestigious stages as Greyfox, Rockygrass, the Boulder Theater & the Fox Theater. Slipstream's members have performed on stage with bluegrass/newgrass greats such as David Grisman, Tim O'brien, Darol Anger, Matt Flinner, Noam Pikelny, the Infamous Stringdusters, Cadilac Sky, Nick Forster and many others. The Stream of Slipperyness has had numerous television and radio appearances around the country, including a live recording of their performance at Greyfox for Sirius Satellite Radio. Their first recording, Waterbound, has climbed the National Americana Radio Charts and had wonderful reviews in many national and international publications. Look for a new recording in the future as the band has once again been in the studio recently. These days Slipstream can be heard in a variety of settings... from Murph & Rich as a duo, to a trio with Justin or Erin, to a full blast four piece and even a quintet from time to time. Rich Zimmerman “leads with commanding vocals and delicate mandolin work” (BN, Nov.2005) and his authentic vocal style is reminiscent of folks like Tim O'Brien and Norman Blake. Brad Murphey adds “flawless flatpicking” (BN, Nov.2005) on guitar that is always considered “very tasteful” - Sing Out Magazine, Fall 2005. Justin Hoffenberg is Colorado's premier fiddle player. Hoffentone (as Murph calls him) has performed on stage with acoustic greats Tim O'brien, Bryan Sutton, the Del McCoury Band and has even been the fiddler for the Indigo Girls. Erin Youngberg has toured, recorded, instructed, and performed all over the country with various bluegrass, folk, old time, and country bands such as: Hit & Run Bluegrass; all girl Old-Time Band, Uncle Earl and Bearfoot. Aaron Youngberg is our driving banjo player and has recorded, toured and performed with Hit and Run Bluegrass as well as many other Colorado bands. This band has forged a unique sound within the world of bluegrass and old-time music while never loosing sight of the essence and soul that makes traditional music so lasting. |
